SOLAR ORNITHOPTER

Using the light as source of energy, it flaps its wings and flies around.
Irrespective of its very simple mechanism, the motions of the SOLAR ORNITHOPTER give a small change to an open space, thereby bringing a smile to people who watch it.
The motion of flapping the wings offers warmness as if it is alive, and the motion of fluent flying offers gentle flow of time.
The motions in advertently create the awareness in us about such things which have been hardly recognized in our daily life.
Our SOLAR ORNITHOPTER is an ornament that is created with such feeling incorporated in there.

- Operation Mechanism -
The SOLAR ORNITHOPTER flaps the wings by using the energy obtained from a solar battery and flies around by utilizing the propulsion power generated thereby.
It is activated by the light, and it is friendly to the environment. Therefore, it can be displayed at any location without concern for the power supply.
Further, since no sound is generated due to the pendulum mechanism, it features the design with consideration for enjoyment even in a quiet living space.

About ORNITHOPTER

"Ornithopter" is an Air-plane to fly by flapping its wings like birds or insects.

The original design of which might belong with Leonard da Vinci around in 1490.Since then, there was challenged by many people and times to fly one by flapping, but no success and even now, it already passed 500 years, still it did not put to practical use of the same getting on a human being.

Beside, it frequently appear on Animation world many bicycles fried by flapping.Even there is a bi development of Jet Air-planes daily playing in the sky, people may be in their heart to fly sky like birds.

Ornithopters might be a Air-plane in a dream of Da Vinci and Romance of human beings.

amaoto

- The rhythm of rain, the touch of life -

Twinkle and trickle, a soothing rhythm
How does the rain sound to you?

Sceneries and sounds you would otherwise overlook in oblivion
Flowers rustling in the wind, twinkling raindrops
Rain falling gently on the water’s surface, soil, leaves, umbrellas, and asphalt
Take a listen to these rhythms, just for a moment

Won`t you stop amidst your hectic everyday life from time to time to
reflect upon yourself while allowing time to flow more slowly and quietly?
You should be able to discover a view different to the ones you are used to

- Operation Mechanism -
The swing of the three pendulums creates a rhythm that reminds us of the sound of rain.
This interior object make you feel the slowly passing time with its rhythm in a casual moment. ”amaoto” begins moving when the light shines on its wooden stand. The three swinging pendulums draw unexpectable paths by influencing each other, and weave the rhythm in the stillness powered by the light energy that changes as the time passes.

Sound and Scenery

Today, we live in a world filled with many sounds.
We segregate sounds from our environment by only choosing those that stand out.

But there are so many faint, yet beautiful sounds in the world.
Birds chirping in the fields, wind brushing the leaves, and tunes of the advent of sunlight following the rain…

These faint sounds which cannot be heard without paying particular attention will almost certainly vanish into
the hustle and bustle of the cities, without being noticed.

Soundscape (scenery of sounds) is a concept which was introduced in the 1960s.
It refers to the idea of appreciating sounds unique to each location, not as separate entities, but as part of the scenery.

Today, where the relationship between sounds and sceneries is slowly being reexamined based on the concept,
isn`t there a need for us to revisit our relationship with sounds?
All we have to do is to change our mindset a little.
You may find that sceneries which you have been familiar with may appear a little different with different sounds.

"amaoto" is one of the solutions that KOKUSAI DSP. has reached.

oscilloglass

- Luxury to gaze at time -

When you turn it over, everything starts to move.
The mechanical timer begins to tick, as if it were alive.

Everything has a beginning, and there is an end.
Focus on something, spend time vaguely,
and sometimes also enjoy waiting.

“oscilloglass” snuggles up gently to your usual time.

- Mechanical hourglass "oscilloglass" -

”oscilloglass” is a mechanically driven hourglass that starts moving and ticks the time by turning it over.

Each of the components sealed inside the glass cylinder is pulled by the earth's gravity, and then it moves by its own weight.
The drop speed is controlled by the same principle as a mechanical clock, and they slowly descend and eventually stop while interacting with each other.

It is a unique device that not only functions to measure time, but also allows the user to feel the passage of time through its movements, sounds, and vibrations like a faint heartbeat.

And, it is composed of a minimum of parts so that the beauty of the mechanical clock construction can be appreciated, and it can be viewed from 360 degrees from various angles.

Please take your time to watch the series of movements that are beautifully linked by the coordination of each component.
Then pick it up and turn it over. You will feel the tick-tock rhythm of its heartbeat in your hand, as if it were alive.

**There is a tall "5-minute" version and a short "3-minute" version, so that just like an hourglass, you can enjoy the passage of time according to your needs.

About oscilloglass

When mechanical clocks first appeared in Europe, they still had only an hour hand.
At that time, mechanical clocks were off by about an hour a day, so the minute and second hands were meaningless.

In the 16th century, Galileo Galilei discovered "pendulum isochronism" when he saw a swinging lamp hanging in the cathedral in Pisa. A pendulum has the property of swinging at a fixed period regardless of its weight or amplitude.
This discovery became the principle of the pendulum clock and greatly contributed to the subsequent improvement of the accuracy of mechanical clocks.

On the other hand, hourglasses, which use falling sand, have been in use far longer than mechanical clocks.
Because of their resistance to temperature changes and shaking, hourglasses were once used on many ships and played an important role in navigation.

Today, we have the technology to measure time more accurately.
Nevertheless, these clocks are still placed in our daily lives.

A pendulum swinging with a certain periodicity.
Sand falling due to the earth's gravity.

We may sense the flow of time by those phenomena unfolding unobtrusively before our eyes.

The name "oscilloglass" is a word created by combining "oscillate" meaning oscillating in regular cycles, and "hourglass".

Please feel the aspekt of time that cannot be seen from the dial or numbers.
This is what we want you to feel.

ABOUT US

Our company started to make a manganese battery operated wooden models as the company name of “Kokusai Model Laboratory”.

After that it grew up as a pioneer of a moving POP display advertising.
In 1990, we developed a solar cell operated “Lucky Cats” and introduced many patterns as a forerunner of “Solar Toys”.

In 2012, we started to use our new brand of “KOKUSAI DSP.” and stepped up forward to make new merchandises which will be much inspired a hearts of people.
